Job 2:1-10

Chapter 2
1 On the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, the Adversary also came among them to present himself before the LORD. 2 And the LORD said to the satan, "Where have you come from?" And the satan answered the LORD and said, "From roaming in the earth and walking about in it." 3 And the LORD said to the satan, "You have put your heart toward my servant Job, for there is none like him on the earth, a man blameless and upright, fearing God and turning away from evil. And still he holds fast to his integrity, and you have incited me against him to swallow him up for nothing." 4 And the satan answered the LORD and said, "Skin for skin, and all that a man has he will give for his soul." 5 But send your hand now and touch his bone and his flesh. If not, he will bless you to your face. 6 And the LORD said to the satan, "Behold, he is in your hand. Only keep his life." 7 And the satan went out from the presence of the LORD and struck Job with an evil boil from the sole of his foot to his crown. 8 And he took a potsherd to scrape himself with it, and he sat in the midst of the ashes. 9 And his wife said to him, "How long will you hold onto your integrity? Bless God and die!" 10 He said to his wife, "You speak like one of the fools. Shall we receive good from God and not receive evil?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
